We are more than bodies in a classroom. Rarely do we ever clock in and out of our respective professions as providers without taking the concerns we have for our charges with us.

We carry our long days with us in to our homes and ask our family members to understand that they must share space in our hearts with the children and adolescents that we care for during the day,

We are more than bodies in a classroom. We are the loving souls who chose to create a profession around children whose needs come first. We readily accept the emotional and financial sacrifices that come with our choice because it feeds our soul to help others.

By making those sacrifices we put ourselves at risk. Risks that are hard for others to understand because we have summers off and long holidays. Risks that go beyond a global pandemic, mask mandates and school closures.

The days spent caring for children and adolescents can make it difficult to know where the suffering of others end and ours begin. This often leads to feeling out of balance and other emotions that we desperately try to push down, because dinner needs to be made and laundry folded. We know the turmoil is lurking under the surface, but we need a break from these feelings.

While there is not a lot that feels in our control these days, we have an opportunity to take the time to look at the emotions that our professions generate.

Serve With Wisdom understands that acknowledging the emotional turmoil is scary. We are here to support that exploration without judgements.

If you're ready to be curious and kind while exploring ways that you can care for yourself, please consider taking 10 minutes a day to tackle issues specific to being an educator and provider of children and adolescents. The Mindful Educator Resource Guide offers 16 accessible mindfulness practices that you can explore before your day starts or when you are winding it down.
